{"id":18373,"date":"2022-03-31T17:02:13","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T00:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.new-wbc.org\/?p=18373"},"modified":"2022-03-31T17:02:13","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T00:02:13","slug":"2022-hr-updates-for-restaurants-and-small-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.new-wbc.org\/es\/2022\/03\/2022-hr-updates-for-restaurants-and-small-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 HR Updates for Restaurants and Small Businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Cal Savers:\u00a0\u00a0Mandatory Deadline Approaches for Businesses of 5 Employees or More<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>CalSavers is California\u2019s new retirement savings program that will offer millions of workers in California the opportunity to get on track for the future.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>CalSavers is available to California workers whose employers don\u2019t offer a workplace retirement plan, self-employed individuals, and others who want to save extra.\u00a0\u00a0Savers contribute to an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) that belongs to them.\u00a0\u00a0Employers that don\u2019t offer their own plan will register for CalSavers by June 30, 2022 and facilitate their employees\u2019 access to the program.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Click the link to learn more:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.calsavers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.calsavers.com\/<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Criminalization of Wage Theft &#8211; AB 1003<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A new CA law now makes it a felony if an employer, with intention, wrongfully fails to pay wages, including tips, in an amount greater than $950 from one employee, or $2,350 in the aggregate from two or more employees, within a 12-month period.\u00a0With this new law independent contractors are considered employees. The consequence for failing to pay employees can result in a criminal charge of grand theft and potential imprisonment for up to 3 years.\u00a0Examples of wage theft could include paying less than minimum wage, failure to pay overtime, failure to provide compliant meal and rest breaks, and\/or requiring employees to work off the clock.
