A trademark is generally a word, phrase, symbol, or design, or a combination thereof, that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others. A registered trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of registration, and can be renewed every 10 years. To renew a trademark the owner must pay a government renewal fee.
