How Edith Hernandez Built Fluffy Paws Mobile Grooming

Edith Hernandez, a devoted animal lover from North Hills, CA, made the bold decision to stop relying on side income and instead build lasting economic stability for her family. What began as a way to provide gentler care for her beloved dog Fluffy — who often returned anxious and overwhelmed from grooming appointments — soon grew into Fluffy Paws – Mobile Pet Grooming, a thriving business that’s transforming the grooming experience for pets and their owners. In January 2023, Edith enrolled in grooming school and graduated six months later. Her calm, one-pet-at-a-time approach quickly gained popularity, and as demand grew, her husband built a fully equipped grooming station at home to support her growing clientele.

Determined to grow her business the right way, Edith joined the DreamBuilder Program at the NEW Women’s Business Center in March 2023. Through this hybrid course, she gained practical skills in business planning, financial projections, and marketing. Her commitment and vision earned her second place in the program’s pitch contest and recognition at the Latina Biz Conference in May 2024. Today, Fluffy Paws stands as a testament to Edith’s hard work, love for animals, and determination to create a better future for her family — and for every pet she serves.

Meanwhile, Edith was already dreaming bigger. In March 2024, she sought a $20,000 loan to remodel a van and officially launch Fluffy Paws – Mobile Pet Grooming. With guidance from the NEW Women’s Business Center, she registered her business, completed a thorough business plan, and prepared for financial sustainability.

Just 15 months later, her results speak volumes:

  • A fully remodeled, mobile grooming van
  • Her daughter now part of the team
  • Savings underway for a second grooming van

Although Fluffy has since passed, his legacy lives on through Fluffy Paws. Edith continues to honor his memory by creating a grooming experience that prioritizes calm, personalized care for every pet.

Her story is a testament to how passion, education, and the right support can transform a personal need into a growing business. The NEW Women’s Business Center has played a key role in her journey, equipping her with tools, confidence, and a community of support.

Edith Hernandez’s story is more than a business success — it’s a tribute to love, resilience, and the power of dreaming big.
