As the NEW Women’s Business Center continues to build a strong program to support successful home-based childcare providers, entrepreneurs like Reina Isabel Luna demonstrate the impact of investing in women-owned businesses that strengthen our communities.
Through the Little Steps Grant Program, Reina was selected as one of just 50 grant recipients, helping her continue growing La Casita de Luna, her licensed, bilingual (English/Spanish) home-based childcare. The grant will support improvements to her outdoor play area by adding much-needed shade, creating a safer and more comfortable environment for the children in her care.
Inspired by the desire to spend more time with her family while meeting a growing community need, Reina has been steadily growing her business with determination, heart, and a commitment to serving working families. Today, La Casita de Luna provides quality childcare for children from newborns to 13 years old, serving families throughout Southeast Los Angeles, including Huntington Park, Bell, Bellflower, Compton, Watts, Long Beach, Lakewood, and neighboring communities.
Reina’s story is a testament to how the right support, training, and resources can help entrepreneurs turn their passion into a thriving business. As the NEW Women’s Business Center continues expanding its childcare program, success stories like Reina’s are helping create more opportunities for families, children, and small business owners across Los Angeles.
