Her leadership has been instrumental in the success of New Economics for Women (NEW), a nonprofit that she helped establish, turning a $97,000 grant into over $280 million in investments. Under her guidance, NEW has developed 1,800 units of affordable housing across Southern California and Denver, created business incubators, and launched small business loan funds to support women entrepreneurs. Beyond building physical communities, Bea has pioneered asset-building programs, including the first Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) in the U.S., helping families grow and protect their financial futures. Her influence extends to national boards such as the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), Prosperity Now, and the Insight Center for Community Economic Development. She has also provided invaluable leadership on advisory boards for The Capital Corp (CDFI), National Diversity Coalition, and JP Morgan Chase. Her outstanding contributions have earned her recognition from two California Governors and three Los Angeles Mayors, as well as a prestigious national James A.
