Since Ayana became a part of the NEW-WBC in May, 2022, she has accumulated 13 training events with 26 hours. She started by requesting counseling for marketing and ecommerce while joining informative webinars the center offers including grants such as ABC’s Growth Capital- Recoverable Grants; loan webinars namely, Bank Loans, What Lenders are Looking for; Women Own Small Business Certification meetings and more. She has carefully assessed all resources offered. She found out about the California Dream Fund Grant and began to take the specific training courses NEW-WBC offered to be able to obtain this grant.

Ayana dedicated her time taking the Made in LA classes in addition to our center’s business plan bootcamp sessions and in person financial projection workshop and counseling sessions. These free consultations were made possible by the NEW-WBC team to help her in the process of securing the Dream fund grant. Her time was dedicated to business plan preparations, financial projections and making sure her grant application was up to par before it was submitted.

The Dream Fund application that Ayana put forth was approved, helping her business with advertising and buying merchandise which in return, she managed to boost her sales for the holiday season that just passed.

She is an entrepreneur that believes in her products. Ayana stated that she “enjoys testing the limits of what materials can do and that the aim of every project is to craft well-designed works of art that are beautiful and functional”. Becoming a part of NEW- WBC has made her vision wider. She has gone through losing her main source of income to pursuing her dream of becoming a business owner. Furthermore, the center’s resources have helped her manifest her goals, gain a lot of connections and most importantly her creative genes kept rolling.

Her business YM Jewels LLc is currently steady. Her products can be found in Amazon, Shopify, pop-ups at farmer’s market and she plans on attending NEW-WBC future events to be a vendor. Her desire to bring incredible ideas to life will prosper. She is optimistic in expanding her brand and is looking for more opportunities to grow her business right beside the NEW-WBC.
