A vision with a heart for artisan women
In the heart of the jewelry industry, a unique and empowering business has emerged, transforming the lives of artisan women. Limonique, founded by the visionary Lily Zylbersztejn, is more than just a jewelry brand; it’s a movement that empowers and uplifts women in other countries, particularly those who are single mothers and heads of households. Limonique is not just about the end product; it’s about fostering meaningful connections and providing a sustainable source of income for these skilled artisans. Lily aims to help them become financially independent and secure a better future for their families. She began working with artisans from Colombia and in 2023, artisan women from Peru and Mexico joined this beautiful business.
Lily Zylberstejn’s journey began with a powerful intention in 2019. She sought to collaborate with artisan women from various countries, giving them an opportunity to showcase their incredible talents and express their identity, culture, and experiences. Limonique’s jewelry not only reflects exquisite craftsmanship but also embodies the resilience and strength of the women behind each piece.
Lily set to create a business model that goes beyond just crafting beautiful jewelry. She had plenty of knowledge in the jewelry area, but none regarding creating or managing a business. She found a supportive ally in the NEW Women’s Business Center. This organization played a crucial role in providing Lily with essential business education, promoting her brand, and offering valuable information about available business grants.
With the guidance of the NEW Women’s Business Center, Lily successfully navigated the intricate process of applying for grants, ultimately being awarded two grants that propelled the expansion of Limonique. These grants not only allowed the business to grow but also created more opportunities for the artisan women who contribute to the brand’s growing success.
Limonique is now able to expand and has launched a new venture: Indigo by Limonique. This branch of her business is dedicated to high-quality accessories like hats, pashminas, purses, totes, and sunglasses.
Limonique stands as a shining example of how a business can be a force for positive change in the world. The partnership with the NEW Women’s Business Center exemplifies the importance of supportive networks and resources in fostering the growth of businesses with a social impact. As Limonique continues to thrive, it serves as an inspiration for others to consider the social and economic impact their businesses can have on communities around the world.
