A New Home Daycare Inspiring Our Community

Yazmin Torres has demonstrated a deep commitment to nurturing and educating children from a young age. Yazmin’s journey has been one of continuous learning and resilience. Despite the challenges, she has pursued her studies diligently, earning certificates in child development and education and continuously striving to enhance her qualifications. Her ultimate dream is to attain a university degree in Child Development, driven by her desire to leave a lasting legacy for her children. Yazmin’s vision is for her children to live the American dream, a pursuit initiated by her parents when they brought her to the United States from Mexico.

Lavender Childcare: A Dream in the MakingYazmin’s entrepreneurial spirit has led her to establish Lavender Childcare, a home-based childcare service she aspires to expand to serve more families in her community. Her dream extends beyond just childcare; she envisions transforming Lavender Childcare into a Child Care Center that supports children’s growth and development and provides employment opportunities within the community. Lavender Childcare is a warm, nurturing space where learning through play is at the core of its philosophy. Yazmin’s passion for working with children stems from her belief that they are the future and have much to teach us. Running a business that contributes to the well-being of children fills her heart with joy.

The Road to Success: Education and SupportThe path to establishing Lavender Childcare was not straightforward. Yazmin spent considerable time contemplating her next steps and seeking the right guidance. She knew she wanted to create something meaningful but felt disoriented about where to start. Through the support of the NEW Women’s Business Center, Yazmin found the guidance she needed to begin her journey. The center gave her the foundational knowledge of managing a small business and the steps required to succeed. Determined to do things right, Yazmin pursued Child Development and teaching studies. Her dedication paid off when she received a teaching permit approved by the state of California. With the support of the NEW Women’s Business Center, she also obtained business certifications as a Women-Owned and Minority-Owned Enterprise.

A Vision for the FutureYazmin Torres attributes much of her success to her husband’s support. She continues to dream big for Lavender Childcare. Her vision is to provide a safe, educational, and joyful environment forchildren and contribute to her community’s growth and prosperity. As she works towards transforming her home-based childcare into a thriving Child Care Center, Yazmin’s story stands as a testament to perseverance, education, and community support in achieving one’s dreams. For more information about Lavender Childcare and Yazmin’s journey, visit www.lavenderchildcare.com.
